SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE



Simple Present Tense (SPT) shows daily habits or usual activities. Besides, facts and schedules also use SPT. Here is the example that is using SPT.
   a)      Dony takes a bath every day.
   b)      Anna eats sandwich every morning.
   c)       My cat likes playing ball.
   d)      Planets revolves around the sun in our galaxy. 
   e)      The plane goes to Bali at 09.30 a.m.
   f)       Ben doesn’t like carrots.
   g)      Does Gigi bring pens?
   h)      I usually take a bus to go to school.
   i)        My mom and my father watch TV everyday.
   j)        You always go to the market every Sunday.
   k)      We like to watch movie in Jogja City Mall.
   l)        My sister and I don’t like swimming.
   m)    Do you take a bus to go to the city?
Pay attention with the verbs above!!
From those sentences, we can conclude that Simple Present tense has formula as follows:
If the subjects are SHE, HE , AND IT, you have to follow this rule.
S + V1s/es
o   My cat likes playing ball.
o   She watches many films in her laptop.
S + does not + V1
  o   Ben doesn’t like carrots.
Does + S + V1
  o   Does Gigi bring pens?

If the subjects are THEY, WE, I, and YOU, you have to follow this rule.
S + V1
  o   My mom and my father watch TV everyday.
S + do not + V1
  o   My sister and I don’t like swimming.
Does + S + V1
  o   Do you take a bus to go to the city?


How about the sentences that contain adjectives, adverbs, or nouns?
Look these examples.
  a)      I am a diligent student.
  b)      You are tall.
  c)       She is my best friend.
  d)      They are from Bandung.
  e)      He is a pilot.
  f)       We are from Cepu.
  g)      Those ribbons are cute.
Based on the sentences. It can be concluded as follows:
She/He/It + is
 o   She is my best friend.

They/We/You + are
 o   They are from Bandung.

I + am
 o   I am a diligent student.

Note:
S : Subject
V1: Verb 1
